This policy describes what the SELVU app actually does, sentence by sentence against its code. Items still under legal review are marked as such.

1. Introduction

SELVU is a photo and video retouching app. This policy explains what happens to the images and videos you edit, what SELVU stores, and what the third-party software inside SELVU does.

2. Photos and videos

Photos and videos you choose to edit are processed on your device. SELVU does not operate a server, and SELVU's own code contains no networking: your photos and videos are not uploaded to us, because there is nowhere for them to be uploaded to. When you export, the result is saved to your device's photo library.

3. Face processing

To retouch a face, SELVU locates facial features — the outline of the face, the eyes, nose and mouth — using a face-tracking component that runs on your device. This analysis happens frame by frame while you edit and is not stored. SELVU does not save face landmarks, face measurements or face templates, does not use face data to identify anyone, and does not build a profile of you.

4. Information stored on your device

SELVU stores one thing, on your device only: your adjustment preferences ("My Look") — the slider values you have used, such as how much smoothing or reshaping you prefer, kept in a file inside SELVU's own app storage. My Look contains no photos, no videos and no face data. It is removed when you delete the app, and you can clear it at any time from the editor's menu ("Forget My Look").

5. Third-party components

SELVU includes open-source software components, including Google's MediaPipe face-tracking runtime. The licenses for these components are listed in the app under About → Open Source Licenses.

6. Operational and diagnostic information

The MediaPipe component included in SELVU sends information about its own performance and utilisation to Google. According to Google's published notice for MediaPipe, this covers operational metrics about the component, and the images and videos you process are not sent to Google. This transmission is implemented by the component itself: SELVU does not control what it sends or when, Google has not published which fields those metrics contain on iOS, whether they include device identifiers, or how often they are sent, and Google does not currently provide a way for an app to turn it off. Details are governed by Google's own policies. SELVU itself does not include analytics, advertising or tracking software, and does not use your photos or videos for advertising or profiling.

7. Photos library access

SELVU asks for permission to add photos and videos to your library so it can save what you export. This is add-only access: SELVU does not request or receive permission to browse your existing library. When you pick a photo or video to edit, you choose it through the system picker, which hands SELVU only the item you selected.

8. Data retention

Photos and videos you edit are held in memory while editing and in a temporary file during export, which is deleted afterwards. Exported results are saved to your photo library, where you control them. My Look preferences stay on your device until you clear them or delete the app. SELVU does not retain anything on a server, because there is no server.

9. Children
